Fit Campania

The research project aims to develop innovative and original methodologies that, through the support of existing key technologies, will create value-added services in the healthcare field (primarily clinical and psychosocial cognitive).

The focus of this research is not so much on the innovation of technological supports that host the services, but on the methodologies underlying the applications to be developed.

The originality of the project proposal lies precisely in the design of these methodologies and the algorithms that support them.

Specifically, the goal is to create applications capable of determining the proximity of semantic parameters that characterize individuals through the comparison of syntactic quantities inferred from multimedia content. In practice, the aim is to develop methodologies capable of extracting features from multimedia content that can be objectively compared to assess, at a higher level, the states of the individuals depicted.

Examples of parameters that can be measured

include levels of harmony in one or more individuals affected by early or advanced cognitive disorders, in relation to a series of events and external stimuli. These metrics can be estimated by measuring the gradient of interaction or empathy of a patient with healthcare personnel (doctors, psychologists, nurses, social contacts) during diagnosis, treatment, the progression of the disease, or with family members and/or emotionally related individuals.

From this perspective, the innovation and utility of the program can translate into the modern desire to understand the overall harmony between interacting people, to measure the increased knowledge, preparation, or interest gained after an interaction, dialogue, lesson, investigation, or group experience, and specifically to monitor the progression of degenerative diseases in a patient. The medical field is the area where the developed approach will be tested, particularly in the monitoring of patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, depression, bipolar disorder, Parkinson’s, and schizophrenia.
